Report Fraud Activity Immediately
If you become a victim of identity theft or fraudulent account activity, it’s imperative you act quickly. Here’s how.
Contact creditors for accounts that have been used or opened fraudulently
Notify ALL credit reporting agencies
To contact the major credit reporting agencies:
File a police report
File a report first in your local community. Then, if the initial fraud took place in another town or city, file a report with that police department as well.
File a report with the Federal Trade Commission (FTC)
To reach the Federal Trade Commission, call 1.877.IDTHEFT (438-4338) or visit www.consumer.gov/idtheft
