Report Fraud Activity Immediately

If you become a victim of identity theft or fraudulent account activity, it’s imperative you act quickly. Here’s how.

Contact creditors for accounts that have been used or opened fraudulently

• Close accounts that have been tampered with.
• Open new ones with new PINs and passwords.

Notify ALL credit reporting agencies

• Request that a fraud alert be placed on your file.
• Submit a victim’s statement.
• Request that you be contacted personally to approve any and all new transactions or account openings.

File a police report

File a report first in your local community. Then, if the initial fraud took place in another town or city, file a report with that police department as well.
